Good2Go offers high-risk car insurance at decent prices, but drivers can also expect below-average service.
Good2Go — whose slogan is “Drive legal for less” — has offered auto insurance to high-risk drivers since 1992. While the company allows individuals with bad driving records to pay less, are its policies worth it?
As a writer for AutoInsurance.com, I’m always looking for insurance providers that take care of their customers. From my research and firsthand experience interacting with the company as a potential customer, I can say that Good2Go doesn’t necessarily offer great value to drivers — even with its comparatively lower rates for high-risk policies.
The provider specializes in minimum limits insurance, so it’s not recommended if you’re looking for higher coverage limits. Ultimately, Good2Go is most suited for drivers who have trouble getting insured due to their driving history and want cheaper premiums. The lower rates come with a caveat: customers can also expect inconsistent service, longer claims processing times, and limited add-on coverages. However, the company does offer many discounts that don’t require a good driving record.
Below, I’ll guide you through our team’s industry research and my own experience getting a quote to help you decide whether Good2Go is the right provider for you.
We’ve reviewed dozens of insurance companies in addition to Good2Go, including the best for high-risk drivers and the best cheap auto insurance.

Won’t drop coverage if drivers get a serious violation

Learn more about how insurance companies determine driver risk classification.
On average, you’ll pay an average of $2,448 annually for a Good2Go car insurance policy, which is around 26 percent above the national average.
Keep in mind that other factors will affect your premium, including age, credit score, and location. For an auto insurer known for offering policies to high-risk drivers, Good2Go’s rates are relatively inexpensive — its average annual premium for car insurance is lower than other insurers that cater to high risk drivers, like The General, and even major providers like Allstate. Good2Go also offers a multitude of discounts, which we’ll go into detail later.
Take a look at the table below to see how Good2Go compares to other providers:
Company | Average annual premium for full coverage | Average annual premium for minimum coverage |
---|---|---|
National average | $1,924 | $547 |
AAA | $2,211 | $894 |
Allstate | $2,639 | $597 |
Farmers | $2,320 | $634 |
Gainsco | $2,221 | $800 |
GEICO | $1,572 | $413 |
The General | $3,069 | $1,606 |
Good2Go | $2,448 | $695 |
Kemper Auto | $2,258 | $963 |
Nationwide | $1,805 | $613 |
Progressive | $1,891 | $481 |
State Farm | $1,697 | $482 |
A low credit score can increase your auto insurance rates by just as much as a DUI conviction.
Good2Go offers plenty of opportunities to save on car insurance with its auto insurance discounts. If you’re a high-risk driver, it’s a major advantage since many of these discounts don’t require a clean driving record.
Drivers save on car insurance with Good2Go for the following:
If you live in a household with more than one driver, you can take advantage of Good2Go’s multi-vehicle discount, which offers up to 25 percent off your policy. The vehicles will be placed under one policyholder’s name, making it ideal for families with young drivers. While many insurers also offer multi-vehicle discounts, Good2Go’s potential maximum savings fall on the higher end of the range.
I’m highlighting the prior insurance discount because it’s one of the most accessible. Good2Go gives drivers up to 40 percent off if they’ve had continuous coverage with an auto provider for at least six months. The discount applies to major coverages like liability and collision. Plus, this offering gives the greatest potential savings compared to Good2Go’s other discounts.
I wanted to get an auto insurance quote with Good2Go to see how it compared to my premiums from my current insurer. With car insurance rates rising, I’ve been eager to lower the cost of my policy while keeping the same coverages.
It takes quite a bit of effort to get an estimate if you’re shopping with Good2Go. I visited its site and entered my personal information, only to be directed to a page offering to compare quotes from other insurers.
Finally, I called the number on its site to see if I could get a quote by phone. After relaying my details to the customer service representative, I was directed to an Allstate agent without any explanation. While I know that Good2Go acts as a broker for other companies, it doesn’t openly advertise that on its website. When I told the representative that I was directed to him from Good2Go, he mentioned that he’d never heard of the company offering car insurance.
If you’re planning to get a quote from Good2Go, I’d recommend calling directly and asking the customer representative whether Good2Go covers drivers in your location. Its quote process may take longer, but at least you can ask the right questions to save time.
Good2Go offers drivers the typical car insurance coverages, including liability, collision, comprehensive, uninsured/underinsured motorist, and PIP. Good2Go’s policies are tailored towards minimum coverage, which you should keep in mind if you’re looking for higher coverage limits.
In addition to the standard coverages, Good2Go also offers towing and rental reimbursement. These usually add no more than $3 to $15 per month to your policy, so you may want to consider them if you choose Good2Go as your insurer.
Coverage | What it pays for | How much it costs |
---|---|---|
Towing coverage | Cover for the cost of towing if your car breaks down | Typically no more than a few dollars per month |
Rental reimbursement | Pays for a rental while your car is in the shop after a covered incident | Typically no more than $15 per month |
Note that Good2Go doesn’t offer accident forgiveness. The insurer has more of a no-frills offering when it comes to coverage. Also, you won’t be able to get a policy with Good2Go if you live in Rhode Island, Hawaii, Kansas, Massachusetts, Montana, or Alaska.
In terms of customer satisfaction, Good2Go ranks below average. Since it’s a smaller insurer, it’s not evaluated by sources I usually use, including AM Best and J.D. Power. However, there’s some data available from other third-party sources to get an overview of overall satisfaction.
The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), which sets the standards for U.S. insurance companies, reports that Good2Go has received more complaints than expected. It rated Good2Go’s complaint index as 10.72 in 2023.1 This means that customers were almost 11 times more likely to file complaints than customers of insurance companies of the same size.
Meanwhile, the average customer rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) is 1.36 out of five stars.2 While most insurance companies have low BBB ratings, these reviews did give me pause. Many reviews mention trouble getting customer service or claims adjusters on the phone. Customers also complain about trying to cancel their policy, only to find out that Good2Go never received a cancellation notice from its subsidiary company.
Category | Good2Go score |
---|---|
National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) | 14.96 |
Better Business Bureau | 1.36 out of five stars (average customer rating) |
Unlike other providers, Good2Go doesn’t have a way to file claims online. Before you reach a customer representative, make sure you have the following info on hand:
Once you’ve reported your claim, a representative will reach out to review the details of the incident. On the website, Good2Go mentions that a claims representative can speak to the expected claims processing timeline for your particular incident. Some customer reviews on the BBB site complain about waiting over five months for their claims to process. Others also mention having trouble getting their payouts, or not getting their payouts at all.
While I can’t personally speak to the claims process, keeping these reviews in mind is important. Since an auto insurer’s most important duty is claims fulfillment, you may want to consider these details carefully before purchasing a policy.
Good2Go doesn’t offer a mobile app, though it has a portal on its website where customers can manage their policies and make payments. Some customers report issues with the website, including challenges making payments or changing the information on their policies. You can also reach a customer representative to manage your policy by phone, though keep in mind that any payments taken by phone come with a fee.

Yes, Good2Go is a real insurance company. However, we don’t recommend it due to prolonged claims processing times and its history of unreliable customer service.
